Relax ...

I need a day off ... I don't have one in the books any time soon, but I love the idea of lounging around the house all day with no pants!  If you know me well, you know that I love no pants!

Today, I am off to work with my Beer Garden co-chair, visiting and thanking our sponsors!  Then to do a few errands and chores ... We are planning on having a quiet night at home.  Then to Nashville tomorrow for our sweet friend's first birthday!

I hope you have a fun Friday and a quiet weekend!

This Week's Recipes ...

Monday, Monday ... I felt like out weekend flew by.  We had a date night on Friday.  Football games and beers on Saturday.  And Patrick worked all day Sunday.  My sinus' have been out of control and I really don't have time to mess with that, right now!  So, I am just taking drugs left and right.

There's a big event here in Paducah, BBQ on the River, in two weeks.  One of the organizations I am a part of is in charge of the beer garden this year ... Sounds fun right?  I'm sure it will be ... But, for now, I am coordinating 100 volunteers, planning meetings, get things printed.  I am completely brain dead and I know it will only get worse over the next week and half leading up to the event.

Needless to say, we are having easy dinners, that don't require any thought or much work.

Monday {D} Sausage Skillet with Sweet Potato and Onion :: Spinach

Tuesday {D} Salmon Florentine :: Couscous

Thursday {D} Chipotle Chicken Sweet Potato Skins

What's your easiest {healthy} go to recipe?  Am I missing something wonderful?

September Book Club

I have plowed through three more books.  Once I start reading, I can't put my latest book down ... It's the getting started that's the hard part.  I have three currently waiting in the wings, but haven't decided what to start next.

I just returned this book on Wednesday.  I loved it!  This author is quickly becoming a favorite ... She also wrote The Husband's Secret and Big Little Lies. This book is about a woman who suffers from a head injury and wakes up thinking her life is different than it really is.  It's also rumored to be made into a movie!  I like the way the author writes, she follows several characters and it just gives you different perspectives.  This was a really fun read ... It also made me look at my relationship differently {in a good way}.

This book was also really good, but very different.  The main character was very damaged, a child who grew up in state custody.  There were parts of the story that were very sad and hard to read, but the bottom line was wonderful and I loved learning about the flowers ... The meanings of flowers were woven in, so it was educational, but also a very sweet story line.

I loved this book.  It was set between 1932-1939 and I loved how it bounced around and follow two very different points in the main characters life.  It was easy to read, but not the typical "girl" book, it felt like more.  I think that this has been my favorite for the month, just because the way it was written is different than what I normally read and I loved the story.

My mom is coming to visit today and I can't wait to see her.  I don't have any plans for us, but I am looking forward to alone time with my mom!  I rarely get that, these days!

No big weekend plans, but I am looking forward to a lazy weekend!  Happy Friday!

Pink ... Is My Favorite Color

Well, not really, but definitely one of my favorites.  I go back and forth between pink, blue, white and gray.  I really like all colors, but lately, I am loving bold pink in spaces.  Patrick doesn't love it so much!

I think I need a punch of pink somewhere in my house ... I am just not sure where!  Or how I will use it?

I can't believe this week is half over ... I am off to clean house, before having a meeting here this afternoon!  Happy Wednesday, friends!

This Week's Recipes

I had such a fun weekend!  I went to Nashville on Thursday ... Caught up with my Book Club friends.  Friday got my nails done, ate a yummy dinner and drank wine with a dear friend.  Then on Saturday, we celebrated my sister, Betsy!  She is getting married in 33 days ... It's so hard to believe my baby sister is getting married!

I got home yesterday and had a lazy day with my sweet husband!  Weekends like this last one, make me feel so energized, recharged and thankful!  It's a wonderful way to start the week!

Here's what will be on our plates this week ::

Monday {D} Spaghetti Pie :: Caesar Salad

Tuesday {D} Mississippi Roast :: Roasted Carrots

Wednesday {D} Salmon Florentine :: Couscous

Hope your Monday is off to a sweet start!  Have a great week, loves!

Day Dreaming ...

I am day dreaming of kitchen hoods ... That's terrible, right?  We can't afford to buy the hood that matches our cabinets {those are CRAZY expensive}!!!  But, I have found several DIY versions and I think that it is something we can tackle.  I want the hood to be white, since it will be on a wall of white subway tile, but I love the look of the hood with the stained wood trim.

I am hoping that this weekend, when I am in Nashville, I can convince my dad to draw up some plans for us.  That way I can get Patrick started on building it! We would like to get a hood up, before we start to tile the backsplash and I would really love to have Phase 2 of the kitchen complete by the end of the year.

August Book Club

Sophie Kinsella is a fun, lighted author ... You aren't going to fill any smarter, after reading this book, but if are looking for a quick and fun read, this is it!  I love girlie books in the summer and Kinsella never disappoints in that category. I liked this book; the story was really sweet.  If you are looking for a fun, pool read, this book will not disappoint.

I loved The Husband's Secret, so I thought I would give this one a try.  I liked this one even better!  It was a great story and while the "interviews" were a little confusing at first, once I realized that they were interviews I really got it.  I loved the story and love the way Moriarty writes, following several different characters.  I have What Alice Forgot on hold at the library and I can't wait to read it!

This book was definitely a favorite.  Dysfunctional family.  Death.  Love.  I loved this book and when I finished, I realized it is being made into a movie.  Coming out in just a few weeks.  I can't wait.  The story was fun, yet complicated and I didn't want the book to end.  Check out the trailer on YouTube.  We don't get these kinds of movies in Paducah, but I told Patrick we would drive to see it!

I just finished The Happiness Project and while it wasn't a fun, quick read, it was an interesting idea.  The author picks four to five things a month to focus on, that she believes will increase her happiness.  I feel like I am generally a happy person, but what a wonderful way to enjoy life more.  I took several ideas from this book that I am trying to incorporate in my own life.  I love the idea of this book and hope that I can remember it.

What are you reading?

I haven't given my September reading list too much thought, but I will keep you posted!  Happy Friday, friends!
