July Book Club

Here's what I read in July ...  I loved all five books and all had good stories, but I really loved Me Before You.  So good!  Actually, I loved them all.  The Heart Mender, wasn't well written, but the story was very sweet.  I thought The Husband's Secret was going to be predictable, but then it wasn't.  And Emily Giffin is always a fun and quick read.

I joined my public library two weeks ago and I can't stop reading!  I have five books, that I am trying to knock out for August, but that may be wishful thinking.

I have been a pretty lousy blogger lately, but all I have been doing is eat, sleeping and reading! :)  No, but seriously, no real house projects.  No, real travel {other than a weekend to Nashville}.  Just living life, but it's been a good month ... It's hard to believe it's almost August and school is starting.

I will try to do better blogging ...  Any book recommendations out there?

Here's what is on my August list :: All Fall Down; This Is Where I leave You; The Goldfinch; A Rule Against Murder; Otherwise Engaged.  I've got my work cut out for me!

Happy Fourth!!!

Happy Fourth of July!  This is one of my favorite holidays ... I love the idea of cooking out, swimming and hanging out with friends all day.  Well, it won't be all day for me, because Patrick is working.  We are planning on cooking out and watching fireworks with our neighbors.

I am making this and this.

Enjoy your day and your weekend!

Summer Book Club

Two books down for June ... I really could have read more, but I got lazy.  I really enjoyed both of these books.  They were quick, fun summer reads and I would highly recommend them both.

My goal for July is three books, but I am not positive what three I will read!

This Week's Recipes

We had such a good weekend ... We had a cookout on Friday night, that was a lot of fun!  Then on Saturday, we drove to St. Louis for the day.  We eat good food, drank good beer, enjoyed the park and walked around.  We both really wanted a day away, so the trip was perfect!  I think that the next time, we go, we will make more of a plan.  Then Sunday, we were lazy!  I love lazy Sundays!

I can't believe that it's almost July ... The year is half over!  Where does the time go!?!?

Here's what is on our menu for the week ::

Sunday:: Hot Dogs - Ranch Potato Salad - Corn Dip

Tuesday::  Crockpot Chipotle Chicken - Roasted Parsnips

Wednesday::  Spaghetti Pie - Caesar Salad

Friday::  4th of July!!!

I am not sure what our 4th of July plans are, but we have a few fun options.  I love the fourth and fireworks are legal here in the city, so I know it will be fun!

Happy Monday friends!

Miracle Worker ...

Have you heard about using Resolve Carpet Cleaner to clean your tile grout?  I pinned something along those lines MONTHS ago ... Well, last night I put it to the test.

And ....

It worked!  It was truly amazing!  When we started remodeling our kitchen, I knew I wanted gray tile and white grout.  Our tile is new, but the grout was starting to look dingy, because we have done all types of construction in that space.  Sanding.  Painting.  Plumbing.  Electrical.  Everyone told me white grout was a mistake ... It probably was, until I tried Resolve!  It works incredibly!

I sprayed the foam.  Let it sit for 10 minutes or so and then scrubbed with a tooth brush.  I wish I had taken before and afters, but trust me, it's clean!  It's white and shiny grout!

A pin success!  :)

Master Bedroom Project

Here's our bedroom ... It's been like this, with a few adjustments, since February.  I love having a king bed and I love our bedroom being on the main level.

I knew I wanted an upholstered headboard, but I have crazy expensive taste and everything I like cost a small fortune.  I found this Restoration Hardware bed and decided, surely we could recreate it.

Well, it took us two days, but we did it!  We had a bunch of scrap wood that we were able to use, so all we bought was 1x's, fabric {drop cloth} and foam/batting.
