Upcoming Projects At Our House ...

We have a lot of little projects that we need to knock out!  We have taken a break from said projects and it was much needed, but it's time to get busy again.  We can't afford to  go gang busters, but we can do a project every month or so.

Here's what is on our list ...

Replace Water Damaged Siding on Garage
We have a detached garage in our backyard.  There isn't much of a foundation, basically the wood siding is touching the concrete.  Because of that, the last row of siding of ruined, water logged.  We debated about what we should, then last night I found this tutorial.  And best of all ... It's the cheapest option!  I would like to knock this out, before winter, so hopefully, we can get started on this soon.

We still need to do a good amount of work in our kitchen.  We are probably about 70% done with Phase II. I have debated and debated over what style hood I want in the kitchen.  I have finally decided on one ... I've asked my parents to build the plans, so hopefully, they are working one it ;) ... I love this one, because of  the wood trim.  I think on the wall of white subway tile, the hood will really be a nice detail, but not necessarily the focal point.

After we install the hood, we will need to knock out the backsplash.  I feel like this is a good winter, cold weather project.  Finally, doing this will make a big difference in our kitchen and how complete it looks.

I think that should keep us busy for several months!  Have you done any fun projects?  Happy Wednesday friends!

We had a good weekend ... We went to a dinner for the United Way on Friday night.  It was a great time and we had a lot of fun, although we drank a little too much!  Saturday, we recouped, did a little shopping and went to our local pumpkin patch.  And yesterday, we were lazy ... This Week's Recipes ...

Sorry I have been M.I.A. for the past week or so.

My sister, Betsy, got married on Saturday and I spent the week in Franklin helping my family get ready.  The reception was in my parent's backyard, so they had a lot of prep work to do.  It was a rainy week and even rainy on Saturday, but it was perfect come reception time!!!

It was a fun week!  And the rehearsal, wedding ceremony and reception were all wonderful!  It was such a great few days and I am thrilled for Betsy and her new husband, Ryan!  I know that they will love their honeymoon!

The Original Five
I am now home ... Doing laundry.  Catching up own my shows.  I need to go to the grocery store, but I have at least planned our meals for the week.  Here's what we are having ::

Monday {D} Tenderloin - Rolls - Creamy Brussel Sprout Salad
Tuesday {D} Potato Soup

I am off to finish my Monday chores!  Enjoy the rest of your day!

This Week's Recipes ...

Tuesday {D} BBQ Chicken Pizza :: Spinach Salad
Thursday {D} Beef Tenderloin with Pepper Jelly :: Mashed Parsnips

I have literally slept more, since Saturday night, then I think I have in the past week.  It is incredible!  I feel like a new woman.  I also have a ton of house work that needs to be done.  I've been a crappy housekeeper/yard girl/cook/dog walker for the past ten days or so, I am anxious to get into my routine!

I have been washing clothes this morning, like it's going out of style.  I have also reserved some books from the library.  Hopefully, I will be reading again, soon!  I need to mow and go to the grocery store ... So, I am off to do chores!

But, BBQ on the River Beer Garden was incredible.  We raised over $30,000 for Family Service Society and I am thrilled that I was a part of this event!  I hope it's something that we can do yearly.  I am thankful for the opportunity and so thankful for all the volunteers who help support our organization!

Relax ...

I need a day off ... I don't have one in the books any time soon, but I love the idea of lounging around the house all day with no pants!  If you know me well, you know that I love no pants!

Today, I am off to work with my Beer Garden co-chair, visiting and thanking our sponsors!  Then to do a few errands and chores ... We are planning on having a quiet night at home.  Then to Nashville tomorrow for our sweet friend's first birthday!

I hope you have a fun Friday and a quiet weekend!

This Week's Recipes ...

Monday, Monday ... I felt like out weekend flew by.  We had a date night on Friday.  Football games and beers on Saturday.  And Patrick worked all day Sunday.  My sinus' have been out of control and I really don't have time to mess with that, right now!  So, I am just taking drugs left and right.

There's a big event here in Paducah, BBQ on the River, in two weeks.  One of the organizations I am a part of is in charge of the beer garden this year ... Sounds fun right?  I'm sure it will be ... But, for now, I am coordinating 100 volunteers, planning meetings, get things printed.  I am completely brain dead and I know it will only get worse over the next week and half leading up to the event.

Needless to say, we are having easy dinners, that don't require any thought or much work.

Monday {D} Sausage Skillet with Sweet Potato and Onion :: Spinach

Tuesday {D} Salmon Florentine :: Couscous

Thursday {D} Chipotle Chicken Sweet Potato Skins

What's your easiest {healthy} go to recipe?  Am I missing something wonderful?

September Book Club

I have plowed through three more books.  Once I start reading, I can't put my latest book down ... It's the getting started that's the hard part.  I have three currently waiting in the wings, but haven't decided what to start next.

I just returned this book on Wednesday.  I loved it!  This author is quickly becoming a favorite ... She also wrote The Husband's Secret and Big Little Lies. This book is about a woman who suffers from a head injury and wakes up thinking her life is different than it really is.  It's also rumored to be made into a movie!  I like the way the author writes, she follows several characters and it just gives you different perspectives.  This was a really fun read ... It also made me look at my relationship differently {in a good way}.

This book was also really good, but very different.  The main character was very damaged, a child who grew up in state custody.  There were parts of the story that were very sad and hard to read, but the bottom line was wonderful and I loved learning about the flowers ... The meanings of flowers were woven in, so it was educational, but also a very sweet story line.

I loved this book.  It was set between 1932-1939 and I loved how it bounced around and follow two very different points in the main characters life.  It was easy to read, but not the typical "girl" book, it felt like more.  I think that this has been my favorite for the month, just because the way it was written is different than what I normally read and I loved the story.

My mom is coming to visit today and I can't wait to see her.  I don't have any plans for us, but I am looking forward to alone time with my mom!  I rarely get that, these days!

No big weekend plans, but I am looking forward to a lazy weekend!  Happy Friday!
